Health Care law and litigation
Mr. Darling attended Graceland College, where he received his B.S. in Biology with a Chemistry minor in 1983. He then attended Texas Tech University, and received his J.D. and MBA degrees in 1987.
Mr. Darling began his defense practice in Houston in 1987, representing automobile manufacturers, securities dealers and other companies and individuals. He has worked with the firm since moving to Corpus Christi in 1990, and opened the San Antonio office in 2000. For the past 20 years, he has enjoyed a healthcare litigation practice, using his background in science and business to represent hospitals, nursing homes, home care and other healthcare professionals across Texas. He is currently in charge of the healthcare litigation team which includes five lawyers and a team of nursing and support staff. Mr. Darling has handled hundreds of professional liability lawsuits, the majority of which have resolved through alternative dispute strategies, including mediation and arbitration. These cases have included serious birth trauma, medication errors and surgical errors.

Mr. Darling has been a partner since 1994, and has been managing partner several times. He maintains a Preeminent AV peer review rating. He is an active member of the Rotary Club of San Antonio, and is also Chair of Field Operations on the Board of Outreach International. Steve has served as Chair of the Advisory Board for the San Antonio Bar Association’s Community Justice Program, Vice-President of the Board of the Corpus Christi Women’s Shelter, and a 15-year volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children through CASA in Corpus Christi and San Antonio. As an active member and former Vice President of the Rotary Club of San Antonio, Steve has mentored high school youth who are at risk of dropping out and has actively participated as Chair of the scholarship program. Steve and his wife, Bizzy, have two children, Michael and Rebecca. Michael practices law in Houston, Texas. Rebecca is a student at St. Edward’s University. Steve is an avid reader, trail runner, and live music fan.
